Empower Academy is a private K–12 special education day school located in Mesa, Arizona. We provide individualized instruction and support for students who may need a smaller, more structured educational environment than is typically available in a traditional school setting.
Our goal is to help each student make meaningful academic, social, behavioral, and personal progress while building confidence and independence.
-
Empower Academy serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Students are placed in classrooms based on a combination of age, grade level, academic needs, social development, and individual educational needs rather than relying solely on grade level.
-
Empower Academy serves students with a wide variety of special education needs. These may include students with autism, developmental disabilities, emotional disabilities, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, other health impairments, speech and language impairments, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic impairments, and other learning or behavioral needs.
Every student is considered individually to determine whether Empower Academy can appropriately meet his or her educational needs.
-
Yes. Empower Academy serves students with autism spectrum disorder and provides a structured, supportive learning environment designed to address individual academic, communication, social, sensory, and behavioral needs.
Because every student with autism is different, we work with families, school districts, and members of the student's educational team to determine the supports that will help the student be successful.
-
Empower Academy provides a smaller and more individualized special education setting than many traditional school environments.
Our classrooms are intentionally small, allowing teachers and paraprofessionals to provide students with more direct instruction, supervision, encouragement, and individualized support.
For some students, a smaller and more structured environment can reduce distractions and allow the educational team to respond more effectively to academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional needs.
-
Empower Academy strives to maintain small class sizes so students can receive individualized attention and support.
Classroom size and staffing may vary depending on the needs of the students, but our goal is generally to maintain approximately 10–12 students in a classroom with a teacher and additional paraprofessional support.
This smaller environment helps our staff become familiar with each student's strengths, challenges, learning style, and educational goals.
-
Yes. Families may be able to use Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) funds toward educational expenses at Empower Academy when the student and expenses meet applicable ESA requirements.
Because every family's situation is different, we recommend contacting Empower Academy to discuss enrollment, tuition, and ESA funding.
-
Transportation may be available depending on the student's placement, location, school district, and current transportation routes.
Empower Academy operates student transportation routes throughout portions of the East Valley. For students who are placed at Empower Academy by a public school district, transportation arrangements may also be coordinated with the placing district.
Please contact us to discuss transportation options for your student.
-
Depending on a student's Individualized Education Program and educational needs, related services may include speech and language services, occupational therapy, counseling, and other supports.
Services are determined individually and may be provided by Empower Academy staff or qualified contracted professionals.
For district-placed students, services are coordinated with the student's IEP team and placing school district.
-
Yes. Students may enroll or be placed at Empower Academy at any time during the school year, as long as space is available and Empower Academy is determined to be an appropriate educational setting for the student.
Parents interested in private enrollment and school districts considering a special education placement are encouraged to contact us to discuss current openings and the student's individual needs.
-
The best way to determine whether Empower Academy may be a good fit is to talk with us about your child's strengths, challenges, educational history, current services, and learning needs.
We encourage families to visit the school, meet our staff, learn about our classrooms and programs, and discuss the type of support their child may need.
Not every educational setting is appropriate for every student, so we believe it is important to consider each child individually.
-
Yes. We welcome families who are considering Empower Academy to contact us about scheduling a visit or tour.
A tour gives parents an opportunity to see the school environment, learn more about our classrooms and educational approach, ask questions, and discuss whether Empower Academy may be an appropriate placement for their child.

Yes. Empower Academy works with public school districts that need an appropriate private special education placement for a student whose needs may be better served in a smaller, specialized setting.

-
Empower Academy serves students from school districts throughout Mesa and the surrounding East Valley.
We have worked with districts in communities including Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Higley, Florence, and surrounding areas.

-
A school district or IEP team can begin by contacting Empower Academy to discuss the student's educational needs and current availability.
The district may provide relevant educational records, including the student's IEP, evaluations, behavior information, academic records, related-service needs, and other information needed to determine whether Empower Academy can appropriately serve the student.
When a potential placement appears appropriate, Empower Academy can work with the district, family, and IEP team to coordinate the next steps, including placement, services, transportation, and a transition plan.
To discuss a potential district placement, contact our School Director, Janelle, at 480-476-1171 or email empoweracademyk12@gmail.com.
